Red onions, are known by several names including purple onions, and Spanish Onions. These red onions have a purplish red skin and white flesh tinged with red.
Generally the red onion is medium to large in size and has a mild to sweet flavour. Red Onions are prepared in many different ways, from being grilled, cooked, fried or raw. They tend to lose their redness when cooked.
Red onions are available throughout the year.
They can be stored 3 to 4 months at room temperature.
