Daikons direct translation is “big root”, also know as “white radish“, “winter radish“, “Oriental radish“,or  “long white radish” has a subtle flavour characterized by fast-growing leaves and a long white root. Originating in continental East Asia,daikon is grown and used culinarily throughout the region. Today it is primarily grown in North America as a fallow crop, with the roots left unharvested to prevent soil compaction and the leaves used as stock feed.
